5th graders are exploring the Civil Rights Movement by researching an activist and writing about the impact they made. It’s great to see students learning about the leaders who helped shape history! 📚✊
National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8, 2026. The Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) Office of Educator Excellence wishes to celebrate teachers across Michigan for the entire month of May.
MDE invites parents/guardians to submit 15-30 second videos of their students recognizing and thanking a specific teacher for their impact. Cell phones easily capture the videos. Please follow the directions on the flyer. Videos and parental consent must be submitted via the Teacher Appreciation Video Project Google Form. Videos are currently being accepted until April 15, 2026.
Submitted videos may be posted on the Teacher Appreciation Month webpage and MDE’s YouTube channel. Additionally, the Office of Educator Excellence’s Facebook (@MIeducator) and X (formerly Twitter) will promote the videos throughout the month of May.

Last week 5th grade students investigated shadows. They collected data throughout the day as they measured the length of the shadow and the direction of the shadow. They discovered that when the sun appears lower in the sky, the shadows are longer. When the sun the sun is high in the sky the shadow gets shorter. The direction shadow changes based on where the sun is at





Today 5th graders were geologists measuring the boundaries of the playground blacktop. Early surveyors had to measure boundaries using a 33ft long chain. We used a 33ft long string for our measurements. Students decided that this would have been a very hard, boring job if they had to measure the boundaries of an entire colony. Especially if it was cold outside!






Competitive Cheer is headed to compete in the State Finals today! Hopefully you'll be making your way to the campus of Central Michigan University and into the McGuirk Arena at 2:00PM to cheer these ladies on as they compete for a STATE TITLE! Nothing better than communities showing up and supporting student-athletes as they compete at the highest levels of high school athletics. Hopefully the athletes will see and hear you in the stands supporting them. Good luck ladies!

We’re cutting the school day short to bring the noise at State! Students will be dismissed today at 12:30 PM to allow our fans and staff to travel and support our incredible athletes.

Parent teacher Conferences will be held Thursday, March 5th form 12:15pm-8:00p.m. with a dinner break from 5p.m-5:45 p.m. Students will be dismissed at 11:30a.m.
